Organic Center Announces Consumer Education Program
September 16, 2005
Foster, RI (September 16, 2005) - The Organic Center today formally announced today its Consumer Education program. This program is designed to help consumers understand the science behind the organic benefit. In this program, organic product companies have the opportunity to license the Center's logo for their packaging. While the message varies depending on space, the logo is generally accompanied by a short description of the Center, Web site address or branded email. The Center's Web site provides a wealth of information about the scientifically-proven health benefits of organic food and agricultural system.
Pet Promise, Traditional Medicinals, and New Chapter are the three pioneering companies to launch this program. To date, over 1 million packages have been released under the program into the marketplace. This program has several benefits: 1) participating companies have a low cost way to create added value in their products by providing quality science-based educational information to their customers; 2) studies show that an educated consumer is a loyal customer resulting in high brand awareness; and 3) new consumers have an opportunity to learn about the science that is proving the organic benefit.
Discussions are underway with numerous other companies to join this program. The Organic Center has a goal of having 50 million impressions in the marketplace by the end of 2006.
Companies interested in participating should contact R. Mark Davis, CEO at rmdavis@organic-center.org or by calling 401-647-1502.
