"Too Much Fuss About Pesticides?"
November 2007
Publication in 1989 of the article "Too Much Fuss About Pesticides?" by Consumers Report set in motion a long debate with Dr. Bruce Ames of the University of California over the relative magnitude and importance of man-made versus natural carcinogens in food.
With permission from Consumers Union, we are posting the original Consumer Reports article from the October 1989 issue, as well as the exchange of letters triggered by the article.
These letters still mark the most in depth, scientifically grounded discussion of these issues. The documents are scanned from original copies, and hence the files are relatively large.
Thanks to Consumers Union for permission to make the article and letters more widely available. These materials were copyrighted in 1989 by Consumers Union of the U.S., Inc.
