"Can Organic Farming Feed Us All?"
October 2006

In WorldWatch, Vol. 19, Number 3 (May/June 2006), a paper is published entitled "Can Organic Farming Feed Us All?" The author is Brian Halweil, a member of the Center's Scientific and Technical Advisory Committee (STAC).

This compelling analysis draws on a number of recent global studies that have concluded that organic farming methods not only can, but will have to play a much more dominant role if world food security challenges are going to be met. In the process of explaining why organic farming has so much to offer in the pursuit of food security, Halweil takes on several long-standing myths about conventional, chemical- and energy-intensive agriculture.
