FALL 2025 Organic Education and Curriculum Development Intern
Organization Overview: The Organic Center is a nonprofit organization dedicated to convening and conducting credible, evidence-based science on the environmental and human health benefits of organic food and farming. Through science communication and public engagement, The Organic Center helps bridge the gap between research and practice, empowering farmers, businesses, and consumers to make informed decisions.
Position Overview: The Organic Center is seeking a motivated intern to support our national efforts to increase awareness and education around organic food production. This remote internship offers individuals the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the organic sector while contributing to meaningful projects that promote environmental sustainability and human health. A key focus will be supporting the development of culturally relevant curriculum resources for educators. This internship is ideal for individuals passionate about science communication, food systems education, and organic agriculture.
Internship Type: Remote
Start Date: Week of September 16, 2025
Eligibility: Open to current undergraduate or graduate students and individuals ages 18–24, regardless of enrollment status
Preferred Majors: Education, Environmental Studies, Agricultural Sciences, Science Communication, or related fields.
Goal: Support the development and dissemination of inclusive and accessible organic education resources that help advance understanding of organic food systems.
Activities:
- Conduct a literature review to gather existing resources relevant to organic food and farming education
- Identify gaps in existing materials and suggest strategies to fill them
- Support development of culturally relevant, accessible curriculum tools for educators
- Assist with education campaigns and digital outreach efforts
- Contribute to content creation for The Organic Center’s outreach channels (e.g., blog, social media, webinars, etc.)
- Complete a reflective summary of the internship experience
Measure for Success: Success will be evaluated based on the quality and timeliness of deliverables, creativity and thoughtfulness in research and outreach, and ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
Knowledge & Skills Expected to be Gained:
- Understanding of the organic agriculture education landscape
- Experience conducting literature reviews and resource mapping
- Exposure to inclusive curriculum development practices
- Enhanced science communication and outreach skills
- Greater familiarity with nonprofit, food systems, and sustainability careers within the organic agriculture sector.
Compensation & Qualifications: Compensation is $15 per hour for undergraduate interns and $18 for graduate interns, not to exceed a total of $2,250/undergraduate or $2,700/graduate per semester. Interns are not eligible for benefits. A reliable internet connection is required, as this internship is fully remote.
